Bruce More Smith

Kattskill Bay * Bruce More Smith, 91 of Bean Road, passed away Sunday Oct. 7, 2012, at Stanton Nursing Home with his loving family by his side.

 Born April 9, 1921, in Mechanicville, NY, Bruce was the son of the late Arther L. and Marion L. (Lasher) Smith.

On Aug. 25, 1943, Bruce married Ruth Fisher Smith. The couple shared more than 67 loving years before her passing in May of 2011.  Besides his parents and his wife, Bruce was predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Smith and his brother, Lewis Smith, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jonathan Corwin and Virginia (Illing) Fisher of Riverdale, MD and his brother-in-law Alan Egelston.

Bruce is survived by his children: Candyce Smith Russell of Manhatten, KS, Douglas Bruce Smith and his wife, Linda of Kattskill Bay, NY, and Barbara Smith Brugger and her husband, John of Barre, VT; six grandchildren: Benjamin Douglas Smith of Rotterdam, NY, Lucas Brody Smith and his wife, Katie, and their son, Brody, of Fort Edward, NY, Lindsay Ann Brugger of Washington, D.C., Spencer Christian Brugger of Superior, CO, Clifton Robert Harriman and his wife, Dasha and children, Alexander and Alena, of Niskayuna, NY, Melissa Lynn Rowe of Saratoga Springs, NY; his sister, Pricilla Egelston of Mesa, AZ, and his sister-in-law Signe Smith of Stillwater, NY.

A prayer service will be conducted at 12:30pm, Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Bruce's lakeside home, followed by the burial at Pine View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce's memory to the Darrin Fresh Water Institute (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) located at 5060 Lake Shore Drive, Bolton Landing, NY 12814.

The family wishes to say a special thank-you to Stanton Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care of our Dad over the past five years, with special thank you going out to the South Wing Staff.
