Michael A. Smith Sr.

Argyle* Michael A. Smith Sr. 70, passed away Feb. 23, 2015 after a 10 year battle with Pick's disease (a form of Alzheimer's) at the Washington Center in Argyle. Born July 3, 1944 to the late Russell T. Smith Sr. and Minnie (Saunders) Smith Davis Minshall currently of Argyle. 


Left to cherish his memories, beside his mother, are his sister, Jennifer Whitaker & her life partner, Gary Willett of Pilot Knob, his brother, Jonathan Smith of South Glens Falls, daughters, Melinda Smith of Saratoga, NY,  Malissa Smith and her daughter Kelsey, his sons, Michael A. Smith Jr. and Matthew Smith and his daughters, Samus and Annabelle, his former wives, Sandy Kelly Smith and Winona Bedell Smith all of Las Vegas, NV.  He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Eden Whitaker & her husband Jim Greenwood of Gansvoort and their sons, Ryan Whitaker of Pilot Knob, Collin Greenwood of Boulder, CO. and Darren Greenwood of South Glens Falls, and Dain (Michelle) Whitaker & their children, Christian, Chelsey, Chandler, & Adam of South Glens Falls and  Arnold and Alex Smith of Argyle, his aunts & uncles, James and Luella Smith and Martin and Rebecca Smith all of Greenwich, as well as many cousins around the country. 


Beside his father, Michael was also predeceased by his older brother Russell T. Smith Jr., his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.


Michael greduated from Argyle Central School.  After working on an uncles farm for the summer, he moved to Las Vegas, NV.  He worked in hotel security for several years before he joined the Las Vegas police dept.  After many years with the police department, he retired and moved back to South Glens Falls, then to Fort Edward to live with and help his mother and brother, Russell Jr.   He enjoyed hunting, football, spending time with his family and especially being outside and helping other people. 


Visitation was held at M.B. Kilmer Home , Fort Edward, NY on Feb. 27, 2015.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
