Madeline O. Mead

Cleverdale* Madeline O. Mead, 84, passed away on Wednesday Nov. 4, 2014 at Albany Medical Ctr., sourrounded by her vast and loving family.  As we wipe our tears and reflect on the miracle that was Grandma Madeline, we are comforted to know our desolate sadness in this moment is but a minuscule remittance for the shining light she brought to us and to the world for every second of her 84 years here on Earth. The Lord called home one of His greatest angels and now she gets to sit at His side and see her son Matthew, who passed away 38 years ago.

Born Feb. 27, 1930, in East Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Pearl (MacBride) O'Connor.  Madeline is survived by her husband, Richard Mead and her children, Linda Mead, Mary Ann Pendergrass, Michael Mead, Sheila (Jack) Brock, Carol (Bob) Enzinnz and Diane (Tom) Harris.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sean Pendergrass, Alison Santiago, Andrew Pendergrass, Shannon Myles, Lucas Brock, Richard Brock, Megan, Nicholas, Angela and ALexander Enzinna and Madeline and Lindsey Hans; her great-grandchildren, Amanda, Tommy, Aidan, Henry, Sam, Scarlett and Brinley; her brother Richard (Cynthia) O'Connor and her sister Phyllis (Richard) Weaver.

Madeline and Dick met when they were 12 years old in homeroom at school.  At 16, they started dating and were married on Aug. 20, 1949, spending 65 beautiful years together.   She was the vice president of Mead's Nursery in Queensbury.
