Richard A. Dzembo

Troy* Richard A. Dzembo, 67 passed away on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his family.  Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Andrew Dzembo and Cleora Retallick Dzembo .  Survivers include Barbara Pakatar Dzembo, his beloved wife of 45 years. two sons, Jason (Robbin)Dzembo of Rensselar and Damon (Tamara) Dzembo of Brunswick; five grandchildren, David Dzembo, Virginia LaPlante, Kayla Dzembo, Alexis Dzembo and Reagan Dzembo; two sisters, Sarah "Sally" Schillaci of Brunswick and Cynthia Pinsonnault (Bernie) of Troy; countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.


Raised and educated in Troy, he graduated from Troy High in 1965 and the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1970, where he was amember of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. Rick was owner and manager of R. Retallick and SOns, building materials in Watervliet for more than 40 years.  Rick was very active in Freemasonry.  He was a past master of Mt. Zion Lodge 311 in Troy, a trustee of Clinton Lodge 140 in Waterford and secretary of Van Rensselaer-Star 400 in Hoosick Falls.  He was a past grand sword bearer of the Grand Lodge of the state of New York, past president of the Troy Masonic Community Center, treasurer of the Friends of the Stewart House and a member of Oriental Shrine, Iran Grotto and godfather of the Bull Moose Society.  Rick was a water polo coach at RPI and coach and chairman for the Adirondack regional team in the Empire State Games for a number of years.  Rick loved his family and the greatest times in Rick's life were the times he spent with his family on Lake George.  He enjoyed boating, fishing and relaxing around the lake.


Funeral services were held on June 23, 2014 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, Lansingburgh and at Gardner Earl Crematorium Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Schlossberg officiating. Donations in memory of Rick may be made to Brunswick Historical Society, P.O.
